I work in healthcare with the eldrly, and i love it. But really i try to treat people with respect, rather i like them or not, And i really dont know how to handle some of my coworkers, who are very disrespectful and some our downright rude, and seem to like to argue. Any ideas on this one, I just walk away from it i guess, I dont like to fuss at work, and it is very frowned upon for very good reasons.
You might just mention that it would be a wonderful world if everyone treated the elderly like they were their own parent. That might get thru to a few of them.
Talk to the nursing supervisor about starting a reward system “Caught You Being Nice” with a posted board with pictures of the participants! Have a binder that is used to record the names and nice acts performed. Co-workers can do the recording of catching each other being nice! At the end of the month, have a drawing for prizes.
Oops! Misread question! My response would be PRAY FOR THEM.

Sort of hint that eventually they will be elderly. Bet they wouldn’t like being treated with anything other than respect.
